The Appeal of Modern Watch Winders

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

For the person who has invested money in a quality watch or perhaps has a time piece with great sentimental value, well then it only makes sense that you would have invested also in a watch winder to maintain your watch.

One issue that some may encounter is finding a watch winder that effectively compliments the interior of their home or office.  You most likely would not want your watch winder to clash with the ambiance of your space which you had already spent much time and money to perfect.  The most common way this can happen is with homes that have a modern themed interior.

Often watch winder designs reflect an antique, rustic, or craftsman style.  It is somewhat rarer to find a watch winder to suit a modern interior.  SwissT Gallery is one such place where you will be able to find a style of watch winder to match any interior.  Of course, as important as the aesthetic of your watch winder is its quality.  Just  because it looks great does not mean that it has all the features you desire to adequately maintain you time piece investment.  Be sure to take quality into consideration along with the watch winders design.

Different Types of Watch Winders

Friday, December 26th, 2008

There are several different types of watch winders. Beyond these different types, each type of watch winder can be purchased to hold either one watch or a larger number. There are even some automatic watch winders that can hold up to 24 different watches. While most people probably don’t have that many watches, watch collectors may need to invest in one of these large watch winders.

Beyond size, what kind of watch winders is there? There are three different types: functional, elegant, and extravagant.

Functional watch winders are smallish boxes or cases that usually need to be kept on a table or a shelf. The watch fits into the watch winder’s padded, raised surface. Once in place, the watch winder turns the watch every now and then in a way that simulates human arm movement. This keeps the watch running.

An elegant watch winder does more than just keep a watch running. These watch winders are, as the name suggests, fancier than functional watch winders. They’re usually a completely enclosed box and are made out of nice wood or leather. These watch winders can be set on a table, desk, or shelf. Those that only hold a few watches can be placed inside a drawer or in a safety deposit box for security.

Finally, extravagant watch winders are absolute luxurious. These winders keep your watches running, provide heaters to keep your watches at body temperature, feature drawers for storing other items, and more. Extravagant watch winders are really only for the high-end collector since they are very expensive.

Most new collectors will go for functional watch winders, while those who have spent some time building up their collection may want to spend a bit more money and go for the incredibly nice extravagant winders.
